After providing internal knowledge management consulting services to General Motors Corporation's Product Engineering since 1997, as a Global Technical Fellow and an additional 13 years as an automotive engineer and manager, Mr. Wieneke continues to provide knowledge structuring, knowledge awareness and enterprise learning orientations, workshops, and coaching services through his own company, Wieneke & Wieneke, Inc. He is also collaborating with Emergent Systems which provides a knowledge management software application known as the Enterprise Engineering Knowledge System (E2ks).

Prior to 1997 he served in various professional engineering positions, not limited to GM, primarily centering on product development and multiple input-environmental testing. In these capacities he was involved in the new product development of both on-highway and off-highway vehicles, jet engines, rail equipment and industrial machinery. This background provided a firm understanding of the product reliability and durability disciplines.

While receiving his M.S. in Engineering from Rensselear, Mr. Wieneke also pursued courses in organizational development. This equipped him with an understanding of the dynamics of groups. He took this combination of engineering and organizational knowledge and directly applied it to his work at GM. He has chartered and sponsored multiple product development and parametric design teams that have produced extraordinary results on a continuing basis.

In recognition of his work in the engineering organization, GM assigned him the responsibility of creating and maintaining both their global product technical memory and engineering enterprise learning process. In this capacity, Mr. Wieneke provided guidance to 25 Knowledge Asset Managers representing 33 Centers of Expertise. In addition, he has provided coaching services to over 1000 subject matter responsible engineers who occupy positions on 250+ registered expert teams. He is also responsible for establishing and maintaining GM’s product best practice knowledge-base as well as ongoing supervision of knowledge management tools, software, documentation and testing.

Mr. Wieneke holds a B.S. in Engineering and an M.S. in Engineering Science. He has done additional postgraduate work at the University of Michigan in the area of Organizational Development.  He is certified as a Master Knowledge Manager and KM Mentor (KMPro), as well as, Level II Organizational Engineer (OE Institute).  Stan Garfield (Deloitte), Sanjay Swarup (ManTech) and Mr. Wieneke founded the Midwest KM Community, a KM leader forum in the greater Detroit area, in December 2005.
